7 weeks till nous partons

April 18 is fast approaching..... seems to be close, yet still so far away.
Dan and I have been practicing our French.  We had a conversation the other day that ran something like this when translated correctly.
Hello Dan.
Hello Terry.
How are you, friend.
Fine.  And you?
Good.  An elephant stood on my shoe.
Yes.  And a giant piece of wood hit my nose.

As you can tell, we have a lot of work to do.
The French word for bottle and for wood sound alike.
But we are getting better.
And to those of you who don't type correctly, it is Terry and Dan.  Another name may take you to a very, very, odd place.

9 weeks before liftoff!!

Dan and I met for coffee this week and made some tentative plans.  We looked at a hotel in Paris for nights of April 19 and 20..... two reviewers of the 20 mention little critters that bite but we figured that was only two.  So when I was in bed at 1 a.m. itching from non existent bites, I thought maybe we better look again. I get everything that everyone else has....but only in my mind.  We also looked at car rental.  I don't generally read to the bottom of a screeen, so when I found a price of $186 for three days, I was excited.  But when I read the rest of the charges, that rate nearly tripled!  Checked another, found it was $149 for three days all inclusive....then found an Avis rate for $94 for three days.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't...but we will check on it anyway.
As a bonus...learned how to get on the free internet at McDonalds using my laptop.  That will be a bonus as all McDonalds in France offer free wi fi.
